Artists to Share Their Art Online in 2021
Why Should You, as an Artist in 2021, have an online presence?
I read somewhere that artists, as a collective group, are notoriously disorganised!
For me that was true! A few years ago I found a deceptively simple method, I now use on a daily basis….I call it my secret weapon! It’s not for every artist, as I know a lot of artists are quite content in their muddle and don’t want to become more organised. However for those who have an overflow of inspirational ideas spilling out onto the floor…sometimes find themselves wishing they had better organisational and some business skills or even some semblance of order in their studio…this is the solution they’ve been looking for.
Having come from a business background of 35 years, then turned artist, my research revealed some historical myths and unawareness of the huge potential for artists to have a presence online.
· There is a gaping hole and a disconnect which we want to plug.
As the founder and creative art director of ArterNet Art I want to share this with you.
If you are a serious artist in 2021, then you need to be on the internet. Period!
For some artists this is a scary prospect, having relied on bricks and mortar art galleries to exhibit their art and for them to promote you as well. We all know what happened during Covid lockdowns. This avenue ceased to exist!
Contrary to what many artists think: here are a couple of myths my research discovered!
· Nobody buys art online! A Google search of online art sales: the figures will render you speechless!
According to the source global online art sales amounted to approximately 4.82 billion U.S. dollars in 2019, up by four percent over the previous year. Online art sales are forecast to increase to a total of 9.32 billion U.S. dollars by 2024.
· Being online doesn’t work for me, takes too long and is complicated! I’ve tried it before.
This is one of the main issues we want to address at ArterNet Art.
I’ve had a long-held dream of a place on the internet….my vision was a meeting place where artists would come together, to build an ARTISTS CITY — a one stop shop:
· To collaborate with other professional artists
· To partner with us and our members.
· To share their successes
· To mentor emerging artists
· To bring their tutoring classes
· To bring their art residencies and art retreats
· To exhibit their art on their own pages, as they would in an art gallery.
ArterNet Art is a platform
built by artists — for artists — funded by artists.
As I said at the beginning, we are not for all artists. We only want to work with artists who are willing to learn new stuff, who want to take their art business to the next level and most importantly who will do the work necessary to get the job done.
We will provide the tools, such as simple ‘How To Pages’ showing you ways to improve your social media marketing skills. Here’s one example:
· Post your art onto Instagram, link back to your art page on ArterNet Art — your buyer can buy with one click!
Be in business for yourself — but not by yourself.
We are different to other online art galleries on so many different levels, the most important being:
· We don’t charge commission on the sale of your artwork. Instead we’ve opted for a monthly subscription. Consider this a monthly rental for your own personal art gallery! For the price of a couple of cups of coffee per week!
